Why did I choose to be a therapist?

As a result of being an immigrant and child of an immigrant, I was exposed to an oppressive and less than ideal system from a young age. I witnessed as my family struggled with life in America, lack of opportunities, and becoming part of the marginalized and disenfranchised population. My family had me but I knew that it should not have fallen on my shoulders like it had a lot of Asian American children. An understanding took root in me and bloomed into what I am now. Despite that, I am no stranger to the experience of being the child of an immigrant family and what that it comes with. But those experiences shaped me into who I am today and I understand the importance of having compassionate and empathetic support.

Services

I specialize in anxiety, depression and trauma and PTSD related issues. I offer individual sessions and family therapy. A one time biopsychosocial assessment will be conducted prior to starting therapy.

Individual Therapy - Individual therapy will be tailored to your specific needs and unique concerns. It can be traditional talk therapy, a guaranteed safe space for you. Or, it can be specific treatment modalities to target issues and work towards your treatment goal. Often times, it is an integrative and collaborative process that feels comfortable and effective for you. I’ll be with you every step of the way as determine what is a good fit for you.

Family Therapy - During my years as a therapist, one fact was glaringly obvious. If my clients have significant familial conflicts, treatment would not be so effective, as their familial and environment stressors will continue outside of therapy. If you are experiencing misunderstandings, miscommunication and consistent conflicts in your familial environment, then family therapy may be a good fit for you. Family sessions serve to improve relationships by increasing communications and understanding of one another.

Biopsychosocial Assessment - A biopsychosocial assessment is conducted by therapist prior to treatment to identify factors contributing to your struggles. Biological, psychological and social factors are often assessed to better formulate clinical conceptualizations for effective treatment.

The estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate was created. The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. You could be charged more if complications or special circumstances occur. If this happens, federal law allows you to dispute (appeal) the bill. If you are billed for more than this Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill. You may contact the health care provider or facility listed to let them know the billed charges are higher than the Good Faith Estimate. You can ask them to update the bill to match the Good Faith Estimate, ask to negotiate the bill, or ask if there is financial assistance available. You may also start a dispute resolution process with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). If you choose to use the dispute resolution process, you must start the dispute process within 120 calendar days (about 4 months) of the date on the original bill. There is a $25 fee to use the dispute process. If the agency reviewing your dispute agrees with you, you will have to pay the price on this Good Faith Estimate. If the agency disagrees with you and agrees with the health care provider or facility, you will have to pay the higher amount.
